New York
Classic Week 2008 "Black Watch" holds off "America II" at finish line. "Pride of Baltimore II" and "When And If" finish neck & neck. Gusts to 25 knots make first day of racing super exciting.
New York Classic Week 2008 is underway and the harbor has been transformed into a thing of beauty. Classic yachts are racing up and down for honor and a trophy. Strong winds from the west averaged near 20 knots with some gusts to 25. This made the competition super exciting as you can see from the video above. Black Watch's secret weapon to win the day was America's most famous sailor Dennis Conner. He was calling tactics and helping set the course as Black watch finished first ahead of all the competition.
