5th Annual Regatta for the City Council Monday, August 27, 2007 A celebration of summer and recreation to help educate the City Council about our incredible harbor and thank the City Council for its continued support of Lower Manhattan and New York's waterfront. Organizing Committee:
Description of Event: The Regatta for the City Council is a fun and casual evening of sailing in New York Harbor. All New York City Council Members and their staffs are invited to participate on a race boat or a spectator boat. If you participate in the race, you will sail on a J/24 sailboat from the Manhattan Sailing School. J/24s are considered the sports car of sailing and are fast and maneuverable. These boats normally race with a crew of 5 people. The sailing school will provide a skipper/instructor for every boat. You do not need any sailing knowledge to participate in this race. The race will be casual and low key (no spinnakers) and the goal is to have fun and enjoy the beauty of New York Harbor. There will also be spectator boats accompanying the race. You can ride on one of these beautiful and comfortable boats to watch the competition. Schedule of Events:
Please arrive at North Cove, the marina in front of the World Financial Center in Battery Park City, Lower Manhattan. Pre-registration is required because we have to assign all participants to boats. Please register here. Wear casual and athletic clothing. Remember, it is usually cooler on the water than on land. Sneakers or boat shoes are suggested. More Info: For more information, please contact Laura@TheNorthCove.com Participating Boats:
